YOUR IMAGINATION IS YOUR CREATIVE MAGIC
As humans, when we hear stories, we have the ability to paint the pictures in our minds of how the scene played out. We can paint the picture of how the people in the scene look and the deep emotions around the occurrence.
Have you ever imagined pitching a multi-million dollar idea to a potential investor or that you were singing alone on the top of a mountain or that you traveled around the world with your closely knitted friends? Maybe you just did that now…
“Imagination is the beginning of creation. You imagine what you desire, you choose what you imagine, and at last, you create what you choose.” ―George Bernard Shaw
As I write this, I have imagined that you are reading this with a smile on your face and an interesting desire to know how your imagination can be creative magic for you.
IMAGINATION OR IMAGING?
Imagination directly means IMAGING — Creating mental images that the five physical senses cannot discern.
Imagination will often carry us to worlds that never were. But without it, we go nowhere. — Carl Sagan
Imagination is the ability of the mind to build mental scenes, objects, or events that do not exist, are not present, or have happened in the past.
THE CREATIVE ABILITY OF YOUR IMAGINATION
“Imagination creates reality.” ―Richard Wagner
The ability of your imagination to redefine your emotional, mental, behavioral patterns makes it a major factor for creating a great impact on the outcomes in your life.
Imagination takes you to a place of visualizing. Visualization helps you to see and create possibilities and translate them to the physical, which then becomes your reality — by that I mean your practical life experience.
Visualizing a situation or an experience, and repeating this mental image often, attracts the situation or experience that we visualize into our lives. This opens us up to new, higher, and bigger opportunities.
“Without leaps of imagination or dreaming, we lose the excitement of possibilities. Dreaming, after all, is a form of planning.” ―Gloria Steinem
Your imagination strengthens your creative abilities and is a great tool for recreating and modeling your ideal and desired life.
I want you to take a minute to reflect on who you are and the feats you have been able to achieve thus far. It is directly connected to the possibilities you have been able to accept or come to terms with.
You are where you are, and you are aiming for what you want, based on the possibilities that your imagination has created.
YOU ARE THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF YOUR IMAGINATION
The world is a canvas for your imagination. You are a painter. There are NO RULES. Get to work — Fearless Soul
So see yourself as the one solely in charge of what you imagine. You don’t need anybody’s permission to visualize and guess what? It’s free.
You don’t have to pay anybody or get any equipment: the resource you need is your mind.
As the person in charge, you have to create a time to harness your imaginations to your advantage.
Your imagination has a huge impact on your personal growth. The more you keep visualizing a version of yourself that you desire, the more it becomes easy to live out that version of yourself. Imagination helps you to set worthwhile goals (I mean goals that resonate with your ideal life because you have created a mental picture of it in your mind).
I will like to share the story of my friend — Opeyemi and how she harnessed the power of imagination to start her blog.
I interviewed her so that you could learn from her life experience. She had a lot to share with me on how her imagination and thoughts created the life she desired to be as a blogger.
Opeyemi learned about how powerful the mind is and how the thoughts created in her mind via imagination triggers images and pictures as well as the emotions that go with them, which in turn triggers attitudes and actions.
She then began to focus more on the desire to be a blogger. At that time, she didn’t even have an idea of what it meant to be a blogger or own a blog. She clearly stated that she never pushed the thought aside even if she didn’t have the ability to own a blog at that time and she kept thinking about it.
Her imagination got so strong to a point that it pushed her to:
- Inquire for the cost of a blog
- Read about blogging
- Put down how she visualized her blog into writing
- Make plans and move past the phase of just thinking. And after a while, the entire blueprint was already in her note.
- Pay for the blog to be built.
- Start writing and the blog came to life.
Opeyemi’s story is so practical and I will like to spell out 3 major things
- She imagined even without the ability to create what she desired at that time.
- Her imagination triggered the images of what she desired.
- Her imagination also triggered her attitude and actions
I am sure you want to check Opeyemi’s blog. She shares a lot about lifestyle, growth, fashion, and entertainment.
YOU HAVE THE MAGIC, START CREATING YOUR WORLD
You have the innate ability to imagine, get to work, and start using it. I am writing this to inform you of what your imagination can do for you and most importantly to get you to start imagining. I don’t believe your imagination should happen rarely but often. You don’t have to imagine different things every time, you can keep building on your imagination, adding flesh to it, creating the emotions around it, be clear on it till you get to a point that you begin to live out your imagination.
“Trust that little voice in your head that says, ‘Wouldn’t it be interesting if…’; and then do it.” ―Duane Michals
So let’s start here:
- What’s the picture of your ideal life?
2. How can you live out a version of it?
3. What is the closest possibility that you can live out now?
Use your creative magic!
